Here Comes Booklife
A new initiative from Publishers Weekly
I’m very pleased to announce that later this week, at BEA, Publishers Weekly and PW Select
will be launching BookLife.com, an exciting new website that will provide indie authors a
free and easy way to submit self-published books for review to Publishers Weekly.
BookLife will tap the experience, integrity, and authority of
Publishers Weekly to help indie authors achieve their goals, by
offering professional tips, insights, and strategies for creating
and marketing books, as well as a place for indie authors to connect and share with other writers.
The creation of BookLife reflects PW’s strong commitment
to indie authors—a commitment I’ve seen grow during my four
years editing PW Select and six years managing PW’s participation in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest.
With BookLife, PW will fully integrate reviews of self-published books into its review pages and website. Our editors will
assess self-published books in the same way they do traditionally published books.
BookLife will also provide indie authors with a dashboard
that enables them to track the progress of their submissions.
Any and all self-published print titles, e-books, and audiobooks
will be accepted for submission at BookLife.com.
PW Select, the monthly self-publishing supplement of PW,
will continue to offer marketing services for authors who want
to introduce self-published books to the publishing industry via
announcement listings and placement in seasonal title data-bases, which are powered by Edelweiss.
All of us at Publishers Weekly are very excited about these
changes, and I hope to see everyone taking part in our self-publishing community on BookLife.com.
